Christian Poltéra has dedicated his BBT award to a long-held ambition to record the cello works of three Swiss composers, some of them now rarely performed and some never before recorded.
The first CD of works by Othmar Schoeck (BIS-CD 1597) is released in April/May 2007. This is followed by CDs of the music of Arthur Honegger in autumn 2007 and Frank Martin in spring 2008. Each CD includes that composer’s cello concerto and works for cello and piano.
This short film includes behind-the-scenes footage taken from recording sessions in Stockholm with pianists Kathryn Stott and Julius Drake, produced by Ingo Petry, from Swedish record label BIS. The soundtrack for the film includes excerpts from Schoeck’s beautiful but little-known Concerto for Cello and String Orchestra.
Thanks to BIS, Kathryn Stott, Julius Drake and Ingo Petry.
